Keeping the faith

I trust myself unconditionally and completely

I trust great spirit unconditionally and completely

I trust the earth mother and my humanity unconditionally and completely

I trust all others unconditionally and completely

I was gifted this affirmation from a colleague and have been consciously working with it ever since. It has got me thinking once again about how the theme of trust has come up many times in my life. For years I was asleep, unaware of how the unconscious belief of being afraid to trust was affecting me. Then after a period of illness I began to question my life; Who am I? Why am I here? I started to examine more closely the beliefs that dictated how I operated in the world.

And so I began to take small steps towards trusting, then bigger ones, and then huge leaps of faith! This has sometimes meant jumping into the unknown but holding the belief very strongly in my psyche 'I trust'

Trust means different things to different people. For me it's about trusting in my own abilities, trusting others (using personal discernment), trusting in a higher plan. Most of all it's about trusting the small voice inside me which tells me when it's time to take a risk, step out of my comfort zone and change something that is no longer working in my life.

I have a strong sense that I am being prepared to take another leap of faith. I have been guided this year to take some time out for myself; to build strength and to re-enforce my sense of trust. I am letting go and allowing myself to be carried along with the wind for a while. Letting go of old ways of thinking and behaving, Letting go of attachments to people, places and situations that are no longer in alighment with the person I am today. It has been a painful and empowering process; endings and new beginnings, eloquently described in the words the actress 'Julia Roberts' uses in the film 'Eat, Pray, Love'

'If you are brave enough to leave behind everything familiar and comforting and set out on a truth seeking journey, and if you are prepared to face and forgive some very difficult realities about yourself then the truth will not be withheld from you'

Although this is work in progress and right now I am feeling the familiar fear of not having a regular income coming in, one of the things that has helped me enormously is to keep a journal and to record all the amazing things that have happened to me since I have been on the path of consciously being myself. I have been re reading it recently, it is validation that I am always supported. Each time I follow my inner guidance and find the courage to trust in a higher plan, the universe has always provided what I need.

Now there is a difference here from what our ego tells us we think we want and what our soul knows is best for us (going back to the higher plan!) I have been staying with various big hearted friends since selling my flat at the end of last year. I have been looking for a house that I can live in and work from but none of the places I have seen so far have been suitable.

Although I spent the first few months of this year resisting this, despite prompts from my higher self 'to let of any pre-concieved ideas of where I'm going to be living' This has been another opportunity to do some more work on building my inner house (metaphorically speaking:) To become more of the person I am choosing to be before I can move on with the next part of my journey.

We are always exactually where we need to be and everything that is happening is perfect for our evolution and growth, although we can't always find a logical explanation for it. The more we are able to let go of our expectations of how things should be and deal with things as they actually are, the easier our life will work out for us.

It also helps to cultivate an attitude that the world is a friendly place and that wherever we go we are welcomed by the people around us and that the universe fully supports us in all our new ventures!

Action Step

Take some time to write in a personal journal. Record your dreams, success stories, the challenges you have faced, the beliefs and fears you overcame. Include the qualities involked within you. Acknowledge the beautiful, supportive people in your life and the wealth of resources around you.
